Message From the Principal |
| Dear Parents, We have had an exciting and very productive opening of school. I would like to thank my very dedicated and committed staff for their efforts in assuring that our first nine weeks of school was successful. I am especially proud of our 596 freshmen and their positive and smooth transition from middle school to high school. All of our students are aware of our high expectations for academic achievement, attendance, and appropriate behavior. They are doing an outstanding job of adhering to our expectations. Additionally, I’d like to thank the parents and business partners who continuously provide support and assistance to staff and students. Our school’s theme, “We are Family – Working Together for Total Success,” is evident and thriving. We are extremely excited that C. D. Hylton Senior High School is fully accredited, achieved Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), and is again recognized in Newsweek Magazine as one of the Top 1000 High Schools in the Nation.
I congratulate the coaches and players of our fall sports teams on a great season. They displayed teamwork, good sportsmanship, and represented our school in an exemplary manner. I would also like to congratulate the Student Council Association and all of our clubs and organizations for what they do each day to enhance school spirit, pride, and to make our school an enjoyable, safe and positive learning environment. Additionally, their commitment to leadership roles and to plan and coordinate community services projects is outstanding.

We congratulate Mrs. Dory McAllister, department chairperson for the SpecialEducation Department, on being selected as Hylton High School’s 2009-2010 Agnes Meyer Teacher of the Year Nominee and the Dale City Teacher of the Year Nominee. We are also very excited that Mr. Thomas Tutwiler and our Troubadours are one of only 14 high school choirs in the Nation invited to the first ever Chanticleer National Choral Festival being held in San Francisco, California in March, 2010. I strongly encourage all parents to actively participate in their child’s education, to volunteer and to participate in our various booster clubs/programs/activities, and to become a member of and to support our PTSO. Remember, our parents, business partners, and community are a very crucial part of our team and school family.
