| Report Card, Interim Schedule, and Edulink Interims for the 2009-10 school year will be issued on October 13, December 22, March 15 and May 27. Report cards will be issued on November 10, February 8, April 26, and the final report card will be mailed to homes in June. Parents and students can check grades on line at any time using our Edulink system. We encourage parents to apply for an Edulink/School Fusion password. Please click on "EDULINK LOGIN" on the left side of this webpage and follow the instructions. 2008 National Gold Council of Excellence Award Hylton has been given the 2008 National Gold Council of Excellence Award by the National Association of Student Councils (NASC). Hylton is one of only 98 high schools nationwide to receive the highly-esteemed honor of being named a National Gold Council of Excellence. GO BULLDOGS!! Special Congratulations also goes to Mrs. Susan Hunter who was named the Commonwealth of Virginia's High School Adviser of the Year by NASC. Let's go for the gold this year too! Class Rings Sophmores and interested upperclassmen will be able to place an order for a school ring through Herff Jones, the company that sells our rings. Herff Jones has an excellent web site where you can "build" your ring on line to see what it will look like when complete. Try it - it is fun! Remember, rings can be purchased anytime during the year from Herff Jones for students in grades 10-12. Tutoring The National Honor Society offers tutoring after school in the library on Monday and Thursday at 2:10 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome but best practice is to sign up with a Librarian in advance. 2010 Seniors & Graduation Graduation plans are underway. The graduation date for the Class of 2010 will be June 12, 2010. Commencement exercises will be held at the Patriot Center - George Mason University - in Fairfax, Virginia beginning at 9:30 a.m. Seniors will order their caps and gowns through Herff Jones. Graduation announcements, school rings, and other high school memorabilia can be ordered through their graduation catalog. Copies of the catalog will be available in the front office of the school in October. Herff Jones will have a table set up in the hallway outside of Guidance on October 20-21. You can order directly through Herff Jones by phone or mail. Please contact them for specifics at 703.594.3982. The Grad Night Celebration was held at Dave & Buster's in Maryland for the class of 2009. Plans are forming now for the 2010 Grad Night Celebration. The contact for this event is Susan Smith (ssmith101050@hotmail.com) and she would welcome some assistance. If you are interested in volunteering or assisting with the planning for this event, please contact Ms. Smith. Baccalaureate will be held on June 6, 2010 here at Hylton High School beginning at 3:30 p.m. More details forthcoming. Please check the SENIOR LINK from the homepage of this website periodically throughout the school year for updates. The Senior Parent Breakfast will be held on October 3 in the Commons and is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. We hope all senior parents will join us. It is always fun to reflect on the students' journey over the past three years as we look towards the future, graduation, and beyond. We know that senior year is almost as exciting for the parents as it is for the students! Homecoming 2009-10 The Homecoming activities for this year have been scheduled and we are all looking forward to the events! October 19 will be the Powder Puff football game and the Bonfire/Activity Fair. The Parade and Football Game will be on October 23 and the Dance will be at the school on October 24. Information on Dance ticket sales will be announced to the students over morning announcements in early October. Don't forget, if you bring a date from another school, you will need to submit a Guest Persmission Form. Details and information will be forthcoming. Freshman Orientation for Class of 2013 New Student and Freshman Orientation was held on August 27, 2009, from 9 a.m. - noon. Letters of invitation were mailed to rising freshman in mid-August. Parents were invited to attend this event with their student. Newsweeks Top 1000 High Schools Hylton was ranked #281 in the County in Newsweek's and Washington Post's Challenge Index published May 18, 2008. We were also in the top 5% of the top 1000 high schools in the nation! Go BULLDOGS! |
