Hello and welcome to the Hylton Health Link. I am Debbie Midkiff, R.N., BSN and I’m thrilled to be a part of the Hylton team! If you are planning on registering your student at our school, I ask that you first familiarize yourself with some of the policies and regulations such as Regulation 755-1, which addresses immunization requirements and Regulation 723-4, the Tuberculosis Screening Requirement. Students are not permitted to carry any medications on their person. A student may have medications in the clinic provided that they have the correct forms on file. Prescription medications require both a physician's and parent's signature and over-the-counter medications require only that the parent has completed the medication form. I can only dispense the dose that is listed on the bottle. If your doctor would like your child to receive more, then have your physician fill out the physician's portion of the medication form. I would also like to caution you on what medications are appropriate to send to school. Some over-the-counter medications state that they are not appropriate for children under the age of 18. If your doctor would like these dispensed to your child while they are in school, please have your physician fill out the medication form. If your child has received an updated immunization, please provide me with a copy. Please keep your emergency card updated with your telephone numbers and contact people. We truly rely on these cards! |
